Good morning everyone! I tried on my first Barielle this week, Belly Dance. And yes, I am still sticking with the alphabetical thing. :)
I received this polish in a swap with Kelly of VampyVarnish. I was really excited to receive some Barielle polishes, since they are not sold anywhere here. I did find a bottle of June Bug at Winners once, but that seems to have been a random find. Belly Dance is a greige with a slight silver shimmer. It has a bit of lilac to it, which makes it similar to many of the other million greiges out there that are popular with polish companies. However, once I painted it on my nails, the effect was really soft and pretty. I knew I would like it, but am surprised how much I love it!
The formula was really smooth and easy to work with. I have a few more Barielles to try, and I can't understand why we don't get this here in Canada. I swear I would be happy to consult with the buyers at Shoppers or Pharmaplus to let them know what the market is like based on the popularity of polish blogs, and how quickly limited releases are snapped up by fanatics who are tired of the reds and pinks that saturate the market. Okay, off the soapbox now, and time to get some work done. I will leave you with a shot of the lovely weather, taken out of my bedroom window.
Here is hoping that summer gets here soon!

Belly Dance looks great on you! Never tried Barielle but have heard a lot of great things about this brand from others. They should sell it in Canada. I'd buy it!

Thanks, Mary! I have about 3 other shades from Barielle, which I will eventually post. The formula was really good on this one, and it is one of those edgy neutrals that are really in style.
ReplyDeleteI bought June Bug as well, but I don't really love it - not really a blue fan.
ReplyDeleteI saw Belly Dance and, sadly, didn't buy it. It's a lovely colour.
Hi Kim,
ReplyDeleteBlue is not for everyone, and June Bug is a little odd with the red/copper glitter thrown in. I haven't tried it yet. Belly Dance I think would be flattering on a lot of people. Not sure if it is still available anywhere.
Hi Melli,
ReplyDeleteYou know how things come and go at Winners! While I don't like blues on me, I don't have the right skin colour I suppose, I do like them on other people!
Hi Kim,
ReplyDeleteThe Winners stores I go to have been really disappointing lately for polish, but I still check. As for the skin tone/colour choice thing, I used to feel the same about pink, and have found some I really like, and some I hate on me. Pale pastel pinks look fabulous on others but not so much on me. I am with you on appreciating certain colours on others. :)
